CRM

Attio AI automation and integrations

The short answer

Attio is a flexible, developer-friendly CRM with a clean REST API, access tokens or OAuth 2.0, filtered webhooks and published limits of 100 read and 25 write requests per second. Its custom objects and lists make it a good fit for startups that sync product data into the CRM. Zapier has an Attio app; n8n connects through HTTP Request. The best AI uses are enrichment, qualification, meeting notes and churn signals.

What you can automate with Attio

Enrichment on new companies and people

When a record is created, research the company and person and fill attributes such as industry, size and role with sources.

Inbound qualification

Score sign-ups and demo requests against your ideal customer profile and add qualified ones to the right list stage.

Meeting notes onto records

Turn call transcripts into notes on the company record, with next steps as tasks and key facts written to attributes.

Lead routing

Assign owners to new inbound records by segment, region and fit, using a model only where rules cannot decide.

Churn risk signals

Combine product usage from your database with CRM notes and flag accounts at risk with a short explanation for the owner.

Product data sync

Upsert workspaces, users and plan data from your app database into Attio objects on a schedule or on events.

What makes Attio easy to automate

Attio was designed with an API-first mindset. Everything is a record on an object (people, companies, deals and any custom objects you create), records can sit on lists that work like pipelines, and each attribute has a stable slug you can address directly. The REST API mirrors that model closely, so mapping a workflow is quick.

Webhooks can be filtered so you only receive the events you care about. There are upsert endpoints that create or update a record based on a matching attribute, which is exactly what sync jobs need. And the published rate limits are generous for a CRM.

The gap is that n8n has no built-in Attio node, so workflows use HTTP Request. That is a small cost given how predictable the API is.

The AI layer

Attio is popular with startups and investors whose CRM is fed by product and relationship data. AI is most useful where that data needs interpreting:

  • Enrichment and research. Company and person research written to attributes with sources.
  • Qualification. Deciding which sign-ups deserve a sales conversation. See how to build an AI lead qualification agent.
  • Account health. Combining product usage and conversation notes into a churn signal with a reason. Our AI churn risk alerts guide walks through the pattern.
  • Meeting capture. Notes, tasks and key facts written to the right record.

AI output goes into dedicated attributes and notes, and every write records which workflow made it.

Limits to plan around

  • Rate limits. The API allows 100 read and 25 write requests per second. A write that creates referenced records counts each created record as another write, so bulk imports need pacing.
  • Attribute history. Values keep history. Know which endpoints append and which replace before running a migration.
  • Data model design. Flexibility cuts both ways. Decide object and attribute design before automating, or you will rewrite the workflow when the model changes.
  • Plan features. Check whether your plan includes API access, the number of objects and the automation features you plan to use.
  • No native n8n node. Budget a little extra time for HTTP Request configuration and pagination.

How Lumeor typically connects it

We create a scoped access token per workflow, subscribe to filtered webhooks for record and list changes, and run logic in n8n or a small service when we are syncing a product database such as Supabase or Postgres. AI steps use Claude or OpenAI’s GPT models with output schemas that match Attio attribute slugs, and results are validated before they are written.

Frequently asked questions

Does n8n have an Attio node?

n8n does not ship a built-in Attio node. We use the HTTP Request node with an Attio access token, which works well because the API is consistent and well documented. Zapier has an Attio app if you prefer a no-code connector for simple triggers and actions.

Can I sync my product database into Attio?

Yes, and it is one of Attio's strengths. Create custom objects for things like workspaces or subscriptions, then upsert records from your database using a unique attribute as the match key. Run the sync on a schedule or from product events, and keep the database as the source of truth for product fields.

How do I avoid wiping values in Attio by accident?

Attio keeps a history of attribute values, and its update endpoints differ. PATCH appends multiselect values, while PUT overwrites the existing list. Use the appending behavior in day-to-day automation and reserve overwriting writes for deliberate cleanups and one-off imports.

Does Attio have its own AI features?

Attio offers AI-powered attributes and research features inside the product, which are useful for quick enrichment and summaries. A custom workflow is worth building when you need your own scoring rules, data from systems outside Attio, or outputs you can log and audit.
